China Warns US and Canada Over Taiwan Strait Naval Transit

China has officially expressed its concerns regarding the recent naval transit by the United States and Canada through the Taiwan Straits. On Sunday, the U.S. destroyer Higgins and the Canadian frigate Vancouver sailed through the strategic waterway, prompting a strong response from Beijing.

Li Xi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, stated that the actions of the U.S. and Canadian naval forces have disrupted the peace and stability of the Taiwan Straits. He emphasized that the PLA remains on high alert to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security, and regional harmony.

During the transit, the PLA's naval and air forces closely monitored the movement of the vessels, ensuring that all activities were conducted in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. Li Xi assured that the Eastern Theater Command is committed to maintaining stability in the region amidst such provocative maneuvers.

This incident highlights the ongoing tensions in the Taiwan Straits, a critical area for international shipping and regional security. The presence of foreign naval forces in these waters continues to be a point of contention between China and Western nations.
