During a visit to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from October 16 to 19, a 32-member delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recognized the area's social stability, harmonious ethnic relations, and impressive developmental progress.
Invited by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the OIC members toured key cities including Turpan, Hami, and the regional capital, Urumqi. They expressed admiration for the collaborative development efforts among Xinjiang's diverse ethnic groups, highlighting the region's commitment to maintaining harmony and fostering growth.
Boubacar Gouro Diall, Mali's representative to the OIC, emphasized the collective global effort against terrorism, noting the necessity of international unity. He also highlighted the challenges of misinformation, urging nations to collaborate in promoting accurate narratives.
Coulibaly Drissa from CĂ´te d'Ivoire underscored the importance of social stability as a foundation for sustained development and global peace. Similarly, Akram Karimi of Tajikistan commended the Chinese government's dedication to human rights and religious freedom, praising the preservation of Xinjiang's ethnic minority traditions and cultural heritage.
Economic cooperation was another focal point of the delegation's visit. Dewa Moustafa, a diplomat from Cameroon, pointed out the potential for collaboration in the energy sector, particularly in solar energy, aligning with Cameroon's abundant solar resources.
Saudi Arabia's deputy OIC representative, Hani Abdulwhab M. Kashif, recognized Xinjiang's achievements as a source of pride for China and its allies, advocating for increased international interaction to accurately reflect Xinjiang's progress.
Naser Kamali Dolat Abadi of Iran shared his repeated visits to Xinjiang, expressing admiration for the region's positive atmosphere and rapid development. He highlighted how diverse ethnic groups in Xinjiang are preserving their unique cultures while enjoying a high quality of life.
The OIC delegation's visit underscores the importance of international cooperation in fostering stability, development, and mutual understanding across regions.
