DPRK Leader Declares South Korea ‘Hostile,’ Enhances Military Readiness

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has intensified tensions on the Korean Peninsula as its top leader, Kim Jong Un, labeled South Korea as a \"foreign and apparent hostile country.\" During an inspection trip to the headquarters of the 2nd Corps of the Korean People’s Army, Kim emphasized the need to ramp up war-fighting capabilities.

Kim criticized what he described as \"useless awareness about fellow countrymen and unreasonable idea of reunification,\" highlighting the DPRK's recent actions to sever ties with South Korea. Two days prior, the DPRK had completely blocked roads and railways to South Korean territory through detonations, a move Kim described as \"the end of the evil relationship with Seoul\" and a step towards \"the complete removal of the useless awareness about fellow countrymen.\"

Addressing the armed forces, Kim reiterated that South Korea, referred to by its official acronym ROK, is a hostile entity. He warned that any violation of DPRK sovereignty by the ROK would result in an immediate and unconditional military response. Kim also urged the military to continue enhancing their war-fighting capabilities to ensure the security of the country.

This declaration marks the latest escalation in the strained relations between the DPRK and South Korea, raising concerns among international observers about the potential for increased military conflict on the peninsula.
