Peng Liyuan Applauds UNESCO’s 2024 Girls’ and Women’s Education Prize

Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping and UNESCO special envoy for the advancement of girls' and women's education, extended her heartfelt congratulations to the recipients of the 2024 UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education during the award ceremony held in Paris, France.

In her message, Peng lauded the winning organizations from Uganda and Zambia, emphasizing that education for girls and women is pivotal for their personal growth, the well-being of their families, and the future of communities worldwide.

She expressed her aspirations for enhanced support in health education and digital education for girls and women. Peng highlighted the importance of steering science education towards empowering women, enabling them to acquire vital health conditions, digital skills, and scientific literacy. This empowerment is crucial for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, thereby advancing women's education and development in the modern era.

Peng underscored that China has always prioritized girls' and women's education, actively contributing to the global movement for women's education while continually improving educational opportunities for women within the country.
