On Monday, a devastating fire erupted at a port in Dawei Township, located in southern Myanmar's Taninthayi Region. The blaze resulted in the tragic loss of eight lives and left three others injured, according to the local fire service department.
The incident occurred at 4:34 p.m. local time when an oil tanker was refilling another oil storage vessel. An unexpected surge caused the oil storage vessel to catch fire, rapidly escalating the situation into a fatal disaster.
Firefighters responded swiftly to control the flames, successfully extinguishing the fire by early Tuesday. Despite their heroic efforts, one male remains unaccounted for as authorities continue their search and investigation into the cause of the fire.
