In a significant move to enhance children's welfare, Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin met with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Executive Director Catherine Russell in Beijing on Monday.
Shen, who also serves as the president of the All-China Women's Federation, emphasized China's commitment to advancing the cause of children. She highlighted the active implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, ongoing improvements in children's well-being, and the promotion of their comprehensive development.
The State Councilor outlined China's willingness to deepen cooperation with UNICEF across various sectors, including basic education, healthcare, rural revitalization, and the care and protection of children. Such collaboration aims to make substantial contributions to the global efforts in supporting children.
In response, Russell praised China's remarkable achievements in children's development. She expressed eagerness to maintain close relations with China and to engage in more in-depth cooperation to further enhance the well-being of children worldwide.
