Two UN Peacekeepers Injured in Lebanon After Israeli Fire

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that two of its peacekeepers were injured on Thursday when Israeli forces fired on their positions in southern Lebanon.

According to UNIFIL, the incident occurred when an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Merkava tank targeted an observation tower at UNIFIL's headquarters in Naqoura. The direct hit caused the peacekeepers to fall and sustain injuries.

In addition to the two wounded personnel, the Israeli military also struck two other UN positions. UNIFIL issued a reminder to the IDF and all involved parties about their obligations to protect UN personnel and property, emphasizing the importance of respecting the inviolability of UN premises at all times.

The Israeli military has not yet provided an official comment regarding the incident.
