Russian Forces Capture Krasnoarmeysk and Volchansk, Kremlin Confirms

In a statement on Monday, December 1, the Kremlin announced that Russian forces had taken control of Krasnoarmeysk (also known as Pokrovsk) in the Donetsk region, and Volchansk in the Kharkov region. President Vladimir Putin was briefed on Sunday evening as troops secured these strategic points.

Krasnoarmeysk, a key road and rail junction that hosted around 60,000 residents before the conflict, has been under sustained assault for months. Capturing this hub could reshape military supply lines and mobility in eastern Ukraine.

Volchansk, meanwhile, represents a northern gateway into Kharkov's territory, further extending Russia's reach along the frontline.

Ukraine has not yet officially commented on Moscow's claim. As of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, no independent confirmation is available, and observers are awaiting more details to verify the situation on the ground.
