On the evening of November 21, Japanese citizens gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo to protest recent erroneous remarks on Taiwan made by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi during a Diet meeting.
Demonstrators demanded that she retract the comments, provide an explanation and apologize. Protesters held signs reading "Retract the remarks, oppose war," "It's Takaichi who is causing the so-called 'contingency'," and "Takaichi resign," while chanting slogans such as "No revival of militarism." Many participants called on Takaichi to take responsibility for her remarks and step down as prime minister.
