At least 10 people were killed and several others injured in a powerful car explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi on Monday evening, officials said.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha told reporters the blast occurred just before 7 p.m. in a slow-moving vehicle near a traffic signal. "The cause of the explosion is being ascertained," he said.
An eyewitness, Kumar, said the explosion left everyone in shock: "I saw around 18 to 20 people injured in front of me. Some were lying inside cars, others were on fire."
The Red Fort, a 17th-century Mughal-era landmark, is one of India's most visited tourist attractions, drawing both local residents and international travelers.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, reviewing evidence to determine how and why the blast occurred.
