China has called on Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to uphold previous pledges on wartime history and the Taiwan region.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that China’s stance on relations with Japan remains consistent and transparent, stressing the need to preserve the political foundation that underpins bilateral ties.
"We hope Japan will work with China to advance a strategic relationship of mutual benefit," Guo added, highlighting China’s push for cooperation amid sensitive issues.
