Global Leaders Convene in Beijing for Women’s Equality Summit

Beijing is ready to welcome top global figures for a two-day Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, held October 1314. Co-hosted by UN Women and the Chinese mainland, this summit marks a major push to reignite the spirit of the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women.

Leaders and senior officials from Mozambique, Dominica, Ghana, Sri Lanka and Iceland are among the notable participants. They will share firsthand experiences on advancing women’s development, from grassroots initiatives to policy innovations.

Two decades ago, the 1995 conference in Beijing set bold targets for gender equality. This new gathering aims to update those goals against today’s challenges, including closing global pay gaps, boosting female entrepreneurship and ensuring women’s voices in climate action.

As delegates craft fresh commitments over the next two days, digital audiences worldwide will be watching. From entrepreneurs and activists to sports fans and travelers, this summit offers new perspectives on building a fairer, more inclusive world for all.
