Hypersonic Strike: DF-17, YJ-21 & DF-26D at V-Day Parade

CGTN’s Yang Xinmeng delivered the final check-in from the V-Day parade grounds, shining a spotlight on the hypersonic missile formation. These cutting-edge systems 6DF-17, YJ-21 and DF-26D 6represent the next generation of strategic deterrence, blending breakthrough, denial and deterrence into one powerful display.

At the heart of the formation, the DF-17 6nicknamed the "door-kicker" 6punched through simulated air defenses with unrivaled speed. Designed to travel at speeds exceeding Mach 5, it embodies the concept of rapid breakthrough, challenging traditional missile defenses.

Trailing behind was the YJ-21, a carrier hunter built for stealth and speed. Flying at hypersonic velocities, the YJ-21 remains difficult to track and intercept, underscoring its role in targeting high-value naval assets.

Making its parade debut, the DF-26D served as the gatekeeper, showcasing long-range precision. With an estimated range extending beyond 3,000 kilometers, it can deny access to enemy fleets, turning maritime theaters into contested zones.

Together, these hypersonic systems signal a shift in global defense dynamics. For young global citizens and tech enthusiasts, the display raises questions about the future of security and innovation. How will breakthrough and denial shape the next chapter of strategic deterrence?
