Since taking over the rotating chairmanship in July last year, China has made significant contributions to deepening regional cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and beyond. Its flagship five-point proposal from President Xi Jinping lays the foundation for a shared SCO home:
- Solidarity and mutual trust
- Peace and tranquility
- Prosperity and development
- Good-neighborliness and friendship
- Fairness and justice
In a recent interview, Imangali Tasmagambetov, secretary-general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and former prime minister of Kazakhstan, hailed the proposal. He described it as universally significant and closely aligned with the expectations of the international community, especially the Global South.
Tasmagambetov emphasized that this clear roadmap offers fresh momentum for the SCO’s future development, reinforcing cooperation and shared goals across member states.
