A Morane 29 water bomber, deployed to fight wildfires in the Finistere region of France, crashed into a lake during a routine water-scooping maneuver.
According to the prefecture of Finistere, the aircraft dropped too quickly and, despite reducing speed, its tail hit the water's surface, triggering a spin that ended in a plunge.
Miraculously, both the pilot and the firefighter on board climbed out of the helicopter unaided and swam safely to shore.
