Rongjiang County, in southwest Chinas Guizhou Province, has been hit by two severe floods since June 24. On June 28, a second wave prompted local authorities to upgrade the flood emergency response from Level IV to Level I within eight hours.
By June 29, floodwaters had receded. Reconstruction efforts, including dredging rivers and removing debris, are now underway, with crews racing to clear roads and restore essential services.
These coordinated relief efforts highlight the strength and solidarity of local communities. As Rongjiang charts its path toward recovery, the county’s experience offers a real-world lesson in rapid response and resilience after back-to-back deluges.
