Global Youth Delegation Dives into Hong Kong’s Innovation Hub

A global youth delegation landed in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Wednesday to dive into one of Asia’s leading financial centres. Their mission: unpack Hong Kong’s role on the world stage and get a front-row seat to the Greater Bay Area’s explosive growth.

First stop: the HKUST Entrepreneurship Centre. Here, delegates met student founders testing AI-powered health apps and green-energy startups spinning sustainable solutions. Data-driven workshops showed the power of collaboration—over 60 international ventures now incubated at HKUST are scaling across Asia.

Next, a tour of the State Key Laboratory offered a peek behind the scenes of cutting-edge research. From quantum computing to biotech breakthroughs, young innovators saw how science in Hong Kong is bridging academic excellence and real-world impact.

The day wrapped up at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), where visitors learned how a 125-year-old bourse has transformed into a global powerhouse. Highlights included live market demos and insights on cross-border listings—HKEX now hosts over 2,500 companies from more than 30 countries and regions, raising the bar for international capital flows.

But the journey doesn’t end here. Next on the itinerary are Shenzhen and Dongguan, two Greater Bay Area hubs driving China’s tech manufacturing and startup ecosystems. Delegates will compare Hong Kong’s finance-driven model with neighbouring cities’ tech prowess, weaving together a panoramic view of the region’s future.

"Seeing Hong Kong’s entrepreneurial spirit up close has been eye-opening," said one delegate. "It’s a blueprint for global collaboration—innovation with impact."

Watch this space as these young changemakers chart their path across the Greater Bay Area, blending lessons from finance, tech labs, and market exchanges into tomorrow’s ideas.
