Guizhou Bridge Collapses After Rain-Induced Landslide

A section of the Houzi River Bridge on the G76 Xiarong Expressway in Guizhou Province in the southwest of the Chinese mainland collapsed on Tuesday after incessant rainfall triggered a sudden landslide.

Local authorities in Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture responded swiftly, deploying 23 vehicles and 89 personnel to secure the site and launch initial inspections. Thanks to the quick action, no casualties have been reported so far.

Rescue teams are now conducting thorough damage assessments to guide reconstruction efforts and restore this vital link. While rain continues to fall, officials are monitoring the area closely to prevent further instability.
