Utkir Alimov, deputy editor-in-chief of Uzbekistan National News Agency, says the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is creating jobs, boosting trade, and helping transform Uzbekistan into a regional logistics hub.

Since Uzbekistan joined the BRI, local communities have witnessed a surge in business activity. From manufacturing clusters in Tashkent to streamlined customs processes at border crossings, entrepreneurs are finding new opportunities to connect with global markets.

Alimov highlights how upgraded rail and road networks are cutting transit times. Improved infrastructure is not only enabling faster delivery of goods but also attracting investment in warehousing, transportation and support services.

For young professionals and startups, the BRI is opening doors to cross-border partnerships. Businesses in sectors such as textiles and food processing can now reach more customers in neighboring countries, while tech entrepreneurs explore logistics tech solutions to optimize supply chains.

Looking ahead, deeper regional cooperation under the BRI could unlock sustainable growth across Central Asia. As Uzbekistan evolves into a logistics hub, its experience offers a blueprint for other emerging markets aiming to boost trade, create jobs and drive economic diversification.
