In a bold move challenging the status quo of global higher education, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has announced it will welcome international students affected by the U.S. government’s ban on foreign admittance to Harvard University.
HKUST has pledged unconditional admission and streamlined transfer procedures, aiming to make the transition seamless. The university will also provide full academic and logistical support, covering visa assistance, housing placement, and campus integration services.
"Academic inclusivity and international collaboration are at the heart of what we do," said Provost Guo Yike. "We stand ready to support these students with the resources and community they need to thrive in Hong Kong."
This initiative highlights Hong Kong’s growing appeal as a global education hub, offering a vibrant multicultural environment for young scholars. As students seek new paths, HKUST’s open-door policy may signal a shift in how universities worldwide respond to policy disruptions.
