China Calls for Urgent Global Action to Protect Civilians in War Zones

China has called on the international community to act with greater urgency and take stronger measures to protect civilians in armed conflicts, said China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Sun Lei.

Speaking at a United Nations Security Council high-level open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, Sun Lei highlighted the human stories behind cold data: “Behind the statistics of civilian suffering are countless individuals caught in the flames of war, hanging by a thread between life and death, and families torn apart, separated from their loved ones.”

Her remarks underscore the urgent need for global solidarity and swift action to shield non-combatants from escalating violence. As the debate moves forward, the central question remains: how will the international community translate these calls into concrete impact?

From digital activism to policy advocacy, young global citizens, entrepreneurs, and changemakers around the world can drive momentum for change. In a landscape where every voice matters, what role will you play in protecting the most vulnerable?
