Chinese Health Team Completes Month-Long Epidemic Prevention Mission in Myanmar

A Chinese public health team returned home this week after a month-long deployment in Myanmar, where they led epidemic prevention efforts following the magnitude-7.9 earthquake on March 28.

The 20-member team partnered with local clinics and Myanmar health authorities, conducting disease surveillance, vaccination drives, and water sanitation workshops. Over the past four weeks, they screened more than 5,000 residents and delivered over 2,000 doses of essential vaccines to vulnerable communities.

"We are proud to support Myanmar in this challenging time," said Dr. Li Wei, head of the Chinese health team. "By strengthening local health defenses, we helped reduce the risk of infectious outbreaks after the quake."

This mission is one of several rescue and medical operations China has dispatched to Myanmar since the earthquake. Relief teams have provided emergency medical care, searched for survivors, and restored critical infrastructure.

As the health team wraps up its work, it remains on standby to assist with ongoing recovery and shares data with Myanmar authorities to guide future public health strategies.

Their work underscores the growing health collaboration between China and Myanmar, highlighting how international partnerships can enhance disaster resilience and global health security.
