Xi Urges Deeper Strategic Ties Between China and Myanmar

On the sidelines of the 80th anniversary commemorations of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War victory, Chinese President Xi Jinping met Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing. Against a backdrop of historic remembrance, Xi underscored a vision for a closer China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

'China will work with Myanmar to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative,' Xi said, promising tangible benefits for both peoples.

Min Aung Hlaing praised China's swift earthquake relief in Myanmar, recalling how China was the first to send sincere condolences and disaster assistance. 'Myanmar highly appreciates these global initiatives,' he added, expressing readiness to tackle shared challenges alongside China.

The meeting highlights a strategic pivot in Asia as two neighbors seek to deepen ties and foster sustainable development across borders, signaling fresh opportunities in regional trade, infrastructure and cultural exchange.
