China-Slovakia Strategic Partnership Enters ‘Fast Lane’

While commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War victory, Chinese President Xi Jinping sat down with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, underscoring a shared vision for deeper ties.

"China-Slovakia relations have entered a 'fast lane' following Prime Minister Fico's visit to China in 2024," Xi said. He called for both sides to deepen their traditional friendship, strengthen high-level exchanges and support each other on the global stage.

Central to the agenda is the Belt and Road Initiative, which Xi urged both countries to advance together, aiming for steady, long-lasting cooperation that benefits China, Slovakia and the wider European Union.

Fico reaffirmed that deepening the strategic partnership with China remains a top priority for Slovakia's foreign policy. He reiterated his country's firm adherence to the one-China policy and emphasized plans to boost trade and investment ties, foster cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and unlock new areas of collaboration.

For young global citizens, entrepreneurs and changemakers, this high-speed diplomatic momentum signals fresh opportunities in trade, technology and cultural exchange. As China and Slovakia fast-track their partnership, they set a tone for dynamic China-EU relations in the years ahead.
