Hanfu and E-Commerce: Steering Caoxian’s Cultural Renaissance

Caoxian County, a small locale in east China's Shandong Province, is experiencing a vibrant cultural renaissance. Once known for its performance costumes, the county has redefined its identity by embracing Hanfu, a traditional attire that embodies centuries of heritage.

The innovative integration of live-streaming e-commerce into the classic "front shop, back factory" model is revitalizing local craftsmanship. This fusion of tradition with digital technology is transforming retail experiences and opening up new opportunities for cultural expression.

In an interview with CGTN, Dong Chenyu, associate professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China, emphasized that Caoxian has emerged as a cultural intellectual property. He pointed out that the rise of traditional cultural IPs is closely linked to the growth of the Chinese mainland's political and economic strength, laying a robust foundation for cultural confidence.

This dynamic transformation resonates with young global citizens, business and tech enthusiasts, and cultural innovators alike. By blending age-old traditions with modern e-commerce, Caoxian sets a compelling example of how heritage and technology can work in harmony to shape a sustainable and inspiring future.
