In a tense incident on Monday in the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian filmmaker was assaulted during confrontations between Israeli settlers and local Palestinians. Hamdan Ballal, one of the co-directors of the Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land," reportedly sustained injuries to his head and abdomen during the altercation. Witnesses and fellow directors recounted that Israeli settlers attacked Ballal before he was detained by the Israeli military.

The Israeli military reported that the clash began when Palestinians threw rocks at Israeli citizens near Susiya, sparking further confrontations between both groups.
