The Xiamen section of the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge has entered an exciting new construction phase with the successful lifting of its first precast pier. This 3,000-tonne structure was elevated using an intelligent positioning system, replacing traditional manual operations with automated precision.
Spanning 17.34 kilometers and supported by 85 piers, the bridge is set to link Xiamen with the under-construction Xiang'an Airport. With an investment of 37.27 billion yuan (approximately $5.15 billion), this engineering marvel is poised to become the most efficient transit route between Xiamen and the airport, easing congestion and significantly boosting transport efficiency.
Embodying a blend of innovative technology and forward-thinking infrastructure development, the project highlights a transformative step in marine construction. As the bridge gradually connects pivotal hubs, it promises enhanced logistical flow and opens up new avenues for both business and leisure travel in the region.
