China Advances to Global Front-Runners in Laser Technology

China is rapidly closing the gap in the global laser technology race, emerging as a key player in this high-tech arena. Ma Xinqiang, a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of Huagong Technology, announced on Saturday that China has made significant strides in laser technology development.

Laser technology is crucial for the manufacturing of approximately 70 percent of components in industries such as smartphones and automotive production. Historically, China's progress in this field was hindered by foreign technology controls, limiting its ability to compete on a global scale.

However, China has strategically prioritized domestic innovation to overcome these dependencies. "By investing in our own research and development, we've been able to break decades of foreign dominance and position ourselves among the world’s leading nations in laser technology," Ma stated during a group interview ahead of the second plenary meeting of the third session of the 14th NPC.

This push for self-reliance in key technologies not only boosts China's manufacturing capabilities but also strengthens its position in the global market. As China continues to innovate and expand its technological expertise, it is set to play an increasingly influential role in shaping the future of industries that rely heavily on laser technology.
