During a recent reporting trip to Ukraine, many citizens voiced their concerns about the country's future. As the conflict drags on for three years, there is a growing fear that the world might become increasingly indifferent to Ukraine's plight, especially given its reliance on international allies.

A recent survey conducted by the international polling agency Gallup in Ukraine reveals a significant shift in public sentiment. Unlike three years ago, more than half of Ukrainians now hope to end the war through negotiations. This marks a noteworthy change in the collective outlook of the nation.

However, the path to peace is fraught with challenges. Many Ukrainians believe that NATO membership is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of any negotiation efforts. Recent statements by the United States regarding Ukraine have cast doubt on the viability of this route, adding to the uncertainty.

Despite these challenges, the desire for a ceasefire and an end to the war remains strong among Ukrainians. Yet, the initiative to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict appears to be beyond their immediate control, leaving many to hope that international support will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation's future.
