In recent years, the town of Mohan, located at the China-Laos border in southwestern Yunnan Province, has undergone a remarkable transformation. Serving as China’s gateway to South and Southeast Asia, Mohan has become a bustling hub of regional trade and cultural exchange, thanks in large part to the China-Laos Railway.
The China-Laos Railway, a major infrastructure project, has significantly boosted economic activities in Mohan. Local businesses have flourished as the ease of transportation has opened new markets and opportunities for trade. Moreover, the railway has facilitated greater people-to-people exchanges, fostering deeper cultural understanding between the residents of China and Laos.
CGTN reporter Yang Jinghao recently visited Mohan to witness firsthand the changes taking place. During the visit, interactions with local entrepreneurs and residents highlighted the positive impact of enhanced connectivity. The Mohan Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station and Mengla County Converged Media Center played key roles in supporting this transformation by streamlining cross-border procedures and promoting media coverage of the town’s growth.
As the China-Laos Railway continues to operate, the future looks promising for Mohan. The town is set to become an even more integral part of the regional economy, driving sustainable development and strengthening ties between China and its neighboring countries.
