Tragic Midair Collision Claims Lives of Two from Chinese Mainland in D.C.

Two residents of the Chinese mainland were killed in a tragic aircraft collision in Washington, D.C., according to preliminary information provided by the Chinese embassy to the United States.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night when an American Airlines regional passenger plane and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided midair over the Potomac River, resulting in the crash of both aircraft into the water. All 67 people aboard the passenger jet and military helicopter were killed.

Air travel resumed at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on January 30, following the deadly collision. Authorities are continuing their search for bodies amidst the devastating loss.

The tragedy has quickly become a focal point for partisan blame, as different groups assign responsibility for the accident.
