China Calls on U.S. to Halt Cyberattacks and IP Theft

The Chinese mainland has formally urged the United States to stop engaging in malicious activities, including cyberattacks and the theft of commercial and intellectual property, according to a statement by a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman on Friday.

The National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China released a report earlier the same day, detailing cyberattacks allegedly carried out by American intelligence agencies. These attacks targeted a Chinese advanced material design institute and a significant high-tech enterprise operating in the smart energy and digital information sectors.

The Chinese authorities have expressed deep concern over these actions, highlighting the potential risks to national security and economic development. The report underscores the sophisticated nature of the cyber threats and the imperative need for both nations to engage in constructive dialogue to address and mitigate these cybersecurity challenges.
