Swift Relief Efforts Underway in Xizang After Magnitude 6.8 Earthquake

Relief efforts are underway in the earthquake-stricken Xizang Autonomous Region in southwest China, with teams installing prefabricated homes to relocate affected residents. Following a magnitude-6.8 earthquake in Dingri County of Xigaze City, at least 126 people have died, 188 are injured and over 3,600 homes have collapsed.

The Ministry of Emergency Management has mobilized 84 teams, totaling 1,586 personnel equipped with specialized equipment and helicopters. Over 160 damaged houses have been assessed, 500 households have received emergency aid, and more than 61,000 relief items have been delivered to those in need.

Installation of prefabricated homes has begun in Lhaze County, with groundwork and infrastructure underway for 400 sets of mobile homes, providing a safe and quick relocation solution for the affected families.
