Wanghu Wetland in the Chinese mainland is transforming rural rice fields into a haven for hundreds of thousands of migrating swans. In a groundbreaking initiative, 160 acres of rice fields have been set aside to remain unharvested, providing essential bird feed and creating an inviting environment for these graceful birds. This effort is expected to attract up to 100,000 swans by late January, making the wetland one of the most significant bird migration stopovers in the region.
