South Korea: Arrest Attempt on President Yoon Paused Amid Supporter Protests

In a dramatic development on Friday, South Korean authorities called off their attempt to arrest President Yoon Suk-yeol following his unsuccessful bid for martial law. The decision was primarily driven by escalating safety concerns after a tense standoff ensued between investigators and Yoon’s security team.

Adding to the complexity, a substantial number of Yoon supporters congregated outside his residence in Seoul. These demonstrators pledged to block the arrest themselves, heightening the volatility of the situation. Later in the day, more protesters gathered near Yoon's residence, vocally demanding his arrest and underscoring the intense political divisions within the country.
