Northwest China’s Ningxia Struck by 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake

On January 2nd, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook Yongning County in Yinchuan, located in Ningxia, northwest of the Chinese mainland. The tremor, which occurred around 10 a.m., had its epicenter at 38.4°N latitude and 106.22°E longitude, with a shallow depth of approximately 10 kilometers.

Responding swiftly, a rescue team was dispatched by the Ministry of Emergency Management to support local relief efforts in the affected areas. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported thus far, and the situation remains under close observation as authorities continue to assess the impact.
