In a significant gesture of international solidarity, 35 tonnes of Chinese aid has arrived in Vanuatu on Thursday to support the nation's ongoing efforts in post-earthquake rebuilding. The Chinese ambassador to Vanuatu, Li Minggang, and Vanuatu's Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, participated in a heartfelt handover ceremony at Port Vila's airport.
The aid delivery comes in response to the devastating magnitude-7.3 earthquake that struck the waters off Vanuatu's capital on December 17. The tremor resulted in the collapse of several buildings and widespread damage, leaving many communities in need of immediate assistance and long-term reconstruction support.
