In a significant show of international support, China has delivered 35 tonnes of aid to Vanuatu to aid in the rebuilding efforts following a devastating earthquake.
On Thursday, Vanuatu's Prime Minister Charlot Salwai and the Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, Li Minggang, participated in a handover ceremony at the airport, marking the arrival of the much-needed assistance.
The earthquake, which registered a magnitude of 7.3, struck the waters off Vanuatu's capital, Port Vila, on December 17. The seismic event led to the collapse of several buildings and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, leaving many communities in need of urgent reconstruction and support.
The aid shipment from China is expected to play a crucial role in Vanuatu's ongoing recovery efforts, providing essential resources to help rebuild homes, schools, and other critical facilities affected by the quake.
