In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties, China and Uzbekistan have announced a 30-day visa-free travel policy for each other's citizens, set to take effect in 2025. This initiative aims to boost tourism and foster deeper cultural and economic exchanges between the two nations.
Starting next year, travelers from China and Uzbekistan will enjoy hassle-free entry, eliminating the need for visas for short-term visits. Additionally, both countries will commence new direct flight routes, making travel more convenient and accessible.
From January to October 2024, Uzbekistan welcomed approximately 6.5 million foreign tourists. Umid Shadiev, chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, expressed optimism, stating that the Central Asian nation aims to attract 1 million Chinese tourists annually through this new policy.
Responding to the development, CGTN reporter Liu Jiaxin highlighted that the visa-free policy is expected to significantly enhance tourism, create economic opportunities, and deepen the cultural exchanges between China and Uzbekistan.
