China Soars into 2024 as ‘Year of Low-Altitude Economy’ with eVTOL Projects

China is set to experience a significant boost in its low-altitude economy in 2024, as the government officially designates the year as the \"Year of Low-Altitude Economy.\" On November 18, China's aviation authorities announced the launch of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) pilot projects in six major cities, marking a pivotal step towards advancing general aviation in the country.

Industry experts are optimistic about the potential growth and innovation these projects will bring. Zhang Bo, China's first self-taught pilot to complete a round-the-world flight, highlighted the transformative impact of integrating eVTOL technology into urban transportation and logistics. "The development of eVTOLs will not only enhance mobility but also create new economic opportunities across various sectors," Zhang commented.

At the recently concluded Airshow China, CGTN's Zhao Chenchen met with Zhang to delve deeper into the initiatives driving China's low-altitude economy. Their discussion emphasized the essential role of general aviation in fostering sustainable urban development and reducing congestion in densely populated areas.

As China leads the charge in embracing cutting-edge aviation technologies, the global community watches closely, anticipating the innovations and economic advancements that will emerge from this ambitious endeavor.
