China’s Civil Aviation Soars to Record Levels in Q3

China's civil aviation sector has achieved unprecedented transport figures in the third quarter of this year, according to data released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on Friday.

In Q3, the total transport turnover surged by 19.8%, with passenger trips increasing by 12.3% and cargo and mail transport volumes rising by 19.4% year on year.

Passenger traffic reached a remarkable 200 million trips during the quarter. Of these, domestic routes accounted for 180 million trips, marking an 8.3% increase compared to the previous year. International routes experienced a significant surge of 78%, totaling over 18.2 million trips.

Since July, international passenger trips on Chinese airlines have steadily recovered, reaching over 90% of the same period in 2019 for three consecutive months.

The CAAC reported that the civil aviation market's freight volume surpassed 2.3 million tonnes in Q3, with domestic freight transport up by 12.9% and international freight transport soaring by 30.1% year on year.

By the end of the third quarter, China boasted a fleet of 4,352 civil aviation transport aircraft, highlighting the sector's robust growth and expanding capacity.
