Meiling, the beloved giant panda and only resident in Jiangxi Province, marked his 20th birthday with a joyous celebration at Nanchang Zoo on August 30, two days ahead of his actual birthday on September 1. Fans from all across the province gathered to sing a heartfelt birthday song, honoring the panda who has brought so much joy to their community.
A special birthday cake, crafted from Meiling's favorite foods including bamboo and various fruits, was the centerpiece of the festivities. Despite entering his senior years—equivalent to a human age of 70 to 80—Meiling remains energetic, lively, and as adorable as ever, thanks to the dedicated care provided by his keepers. While giant pandas in the wild typically live between 15 and 20 years, those in captivity like Meiling can live up to 25 to 30 years, allowing more time for humans to cherish their presence.
