Italy has unveiled Europe’s highest pedestrian suspension bridge, poised to become a beacon of hope for the historic town of Sellano. Located in the picturesque Umbrian region, the Tibetan-style bridge spans the valley between Sellano and Montesanto, offering stunning views and a unique architectural marvel.
Constructed to counteract the population decline driven by a series of earthquakes eight years ago, the bridge represents more than just a physical connection. Officials believe that this striking structure will attract tourists and stimulate much-needed growth in the area.
\"It is special because nature is the main actor,\" says Sellano mayor, Attilio Gubbiotti. \"We are here on this ridge which separates the valley of Valnerina and the Menotre Valley, and it's a fantastic place.\"
