Giant Dragon to Illuminate Taiyuan’s Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival is set to light up the night on February 24 this year, and Taiyuan in Shanxi Province is preparing a spectacular centerpiece for the celebrations. The Chinese Dragon in the Fenhe River Scenic Area has been meticulously crafted by lantern artisans, who have outfitted it with a new ensemble to protect it against wind and snow.

Measuring an impressive 126 meters in length, with a head height of 16 meters and a body diameter of 3.5 meters, the dragon weighs a substantial 20 tons. Inside, it boasts specially designed energy-saving lights that not only enhance its visual grandeur but also promote sustainability.

With the installation and thorough debugging processes now complete, the giant dragon will be illuminated ahead of the Lantern Festival, inviting the public to witness its majestic presence. This dazzling display is set to become a highlight of Taiyuan's cultural festivities, blending tradition with modern innovation.
