With large eyes and lit-up scales, fish-shaped lanterns float through the streets of Zhanqi, a village in east China's Anhui Province. This year, as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, the Lantern Festival, or Yuanxiao Jie, takes center stage. Scheduled for February 24, the festival marks the 15th day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar. The fish-shaped lanterns of Zhanqi Village boast a rich history of 800 years, tracing back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

As the festival unfolds, Zhanqi's streets come alive with bustling activity. Tourists from across the country flock to the village to witness the mesmerizing lantern displays. The parades, featuring these intricate lanterns, are set to continue until February 27, offering visitors ample time to experience this cultural spectacle.
