Lantern Boom Illuminates Small Village in North China

As the Chinese New Year approaches, the demand for lanterns featuring the Loong, or Chinese Dragon, has surged across the country.

In Hengqu Village, located on the outskirts of Taiyuan in north China's Shanxi Province, workers are busily crafting Year of the Dragon lanterns to meet the rising orders.

Since early January, business orders have seen a significant increase, according to a factory head.

Known locally as the \"lantern village,\" Hengqu Village boasts a four-decade history of lantern making, contributing to the rich tapestry of Chinese New Year traditions.
