China Adds Over 2,500 International Flights for Spring Festival

As the vibrant Chinese Spring Festival approaches, China's Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) is set to elevate global travel experiences by introducing more than 2,500 new international flights. This significant expansion underscores the robust demand for international travel during the festive season.

Liang Nan, director of the CAAC's transport department, announced at a recent press conference that airlines across China will be launching these additional flights, catering to eager travelers looking to explore destinations worldwide. Leading the charge, over 600 new flights will connect China to popular destinations like Japan and Thailand, followed by more than 200 flights to South Korea, 150 to Singapore, and 100 to Malaysia and Indonesia. Additionally, new routes will open to countries in Oceania and Europe, further enhancing China's global connectivity.

The surge in outbound travel is anticipated to peak during the Spring Festival holidays, with neighboring countries such as Japan, South Korea, and various Southeast Asian nations emerging as top choices. This preference is fueled by the easing of visa policies and streamlined customs clearance procedures, making travel more accessible and convenient for Chinese citizens.

In a move to facilitate seamless travel, Thailand has approved a temporary visa waiver for visitors from China, valid until February 29. This initiative is part of ongoing discussions between China and Thailand aimed at establishing mutual visa exemptions, as highlighted by Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry.

Furthermore, Malaysia and Singapore have announced the introduction of 30-day visa-free travel for Chinese residents, adding to the list of attractive destinations. China has also expanded its visa-free entry policy, allowing visitors from Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia to enter the country without a visa starting December 1, 2023. Earlier in July, China resumed visa-free entry for visitors from Singapore holding ordinary passports, further simplifying travel arrangements.

These strategic enhancements in flight availability and visa policies not only cater to the travel aspirations of millions but also strengthen China's position as a pivotal hub in the global aviation landscape. As travelers embrace these new opportunities, the upcoming Spring Festival is set to be a testament to China's commitment to fostering international connections and cultural exchanges.
