Maldives President Embarks on State Visit to Strengthen Economic Ties with China

The President of the Republic of Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu, is set to embark on a significant state visit to China from Monday to Friday this week. This visit marks a pivotal moment in China-Maldives relations, signaling a new beginning for bilateral cooperation.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin emphasized that the relationship between the two nations is at a new starting point. He believes that the discussions between the two heads of state will lay down strategic guidance to elevate their bilateral relations to unprecedented heights.

Key topics on the agenda include trade, infrastructure construction, and tourism. Lin Minwang, deputy director of the Center for South Asian Studies at Fudan University, highlighted that these areas are expected to feature prominently during the discussions, laying the foundation for robust economic cooperation.
