A Taste of Tradition: The Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony

Ethiopia is renowned as the birthplace of coffee, and the traditional coffee ceremony is deeply embedded in the daily lives of its people. For millions of Ethiopians, the day begins with a cup of specialty Arabica coffee, celebrated worldwide for its rich aroma and flavor. However, the coffee ceremony is more than just drinking coffee; it's a social ritual where families, friends, and even strangers gather to sip and converse, fostering community bonds.

Recently, Dawano Kedir, deputy head of mission at the Ethiopian Embassy in China, and CGTN's Shen Shiwei shared their experiences participating in an Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Their shared moments highlight the ceremony's role in bridging cultures and celebrating Ethiopia's enduring coffee heritage.
