Guardians of the Giant Panda: Joint Patrols Trek Sichuan’s Jungles

Established 10 years ago, the Laohegou Protected Area in southwest the Chinese mainland's Sichuan Province is a newcomer in Giant Panda National Park. Adjacent to it, the Tangjiahe Area was set up in 1978 as one of the key areas for giant panda research. Together, rangers from both regions embark on joint patrols, trekking 45 kilometers through dense jungles in hopes of encountering the elusive giant panda.

\"Every patrol is a journey of dedication and passion,\" says a ranger involved in the mission. The collaboration between Laohegou and Tangjiahe enhances the conservation efforts, ensuring a dynamic approach to protecting these national treasures. Despite the challenges of the rugged terrain, the commitment to safeguarding the giant pandas remains unwavering.

Through the \"Journeys in Nature: Southwest Humanities Series,\" readers get an intimate look into the lives of those who live on the edge of these forests, sharing stories of coexistence with wild creatures like giant pandas and otters. This series highlights the harmonious relationship between humans and nature, emphasizing the importance of sustainable living and wildlife preservation.
